Weight training

Weight training is a general term for working out where you are using weights. Weight training is also called resistance training. Weights include any free weight movement, including dumbbells and barbells. You can also use weight machines like those found at every gym. Weight training can have multiple purpose depending on the intensity you work with. Weight training overall can improve health, body composition, and develop general fitness. The sport science literature is differentiating the intensity categories of weight lifting by the purpose of it. Basically how heavy you lift will determine the outcome. Loading recommendations for resistance training are typically prescribed along what has come to be known as the “repetition continuum”, which proposes that the number of repetitions performed at a given magnitude of load will result in specific adaptations.
Performing sets :
-Between your 1 -6 reps max (1-6 rm) : You can improve your strength
-Between your 6-12 reps max (6-12Rm) You can cause Hypertrophy
-Over 12 repetitions (12Rm) You can improve the endurance of the muscles.
( Performing a set with your 1 Repetition Maximum means you execute a certain movement once with a weight which you couldn’t lift any more during that set)
These repetition continuum is applicable with body weight exercises as well.
